Porsche has launched its performance-enhanced version of the Panamera, the Turbo S version in India. This is the more powerful and feature heavy grand tourer of the regular Panamera.

The second generation Panamera Turbo was launched in India on October 9. The company is bringing the same Turbo S to India that it revealed for the UK markets on November 1. It will also make an appearance at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show.

The four-door Turbo S get a revised twin-turbocharged V8 engine that makes 570PS, 50PS more than the Panamera Turbo. This has been achieved by adding two new turbochargers with large compressors to the Turbo. These permit more air to be injected into the combustion chambers at high loads and engine speeds. Also the injection pressure is raised by 20 bars, from the current 120 bar. The resultant weight gain has been negated by use of a new aluminium alloy and special piston rings. As a result, torque generated is up by 50Nm resulting in an overall torque of 750Nm between 2,250 and 5,000 rpm. Overboost takes it further to 50Nm more. The Turbo S claims a fuel economy of 9.8kmpl and CO2 emissions of 239g/km. The Porsche Traction Management (PTM) AWD and a 7-speed PDK gearbox work to send power to the wheels. Porsche claims that the car will go from 0-100kmph in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 310kmph.

A Sports Chrono package allows drivetrain and chassis configuration at the touch of a button, and an optional sports exhaust system takes the thump of the V8 a notch higher. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with adaptive air suspension, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with electronically-controlled rear limited slip differential, 20inch alloys, race specced brakes, full leather interiors, Bi-Xenon headlights, automatic climate control, highly adjustable front seats, Porsche Communication Management (PCM) sat-nav, Bose audio system, front and rear seat heating, rear passenger side airbags and a 3-year warranty are added features and comforts.

Changes on the exterior include a restyled front fascia, new LED headlights, bigger rear window, new rear bumper and a spoiler. The interiors get the obvious high-end features and 'Dark Burl Walnut' package with hints of red. There are also Porsche crests embossed in the front headrests.

The Panamera Turbo was launched at a price of Rs 1.99 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Expect the Turbo S to carry a premium price of around Rs 2.2 crore.
