Renault Kwid: Features explained
The Renault Kwid has made a splash with its bold SUV esque styling and a more than attractive likely starting price of Rs 3 lakh. But it's also going to break new ground in the segment with its impressive features list.
The simple digital layout includes a very large speedometer readout with a prominent fuel gauge on the right. See that shiny line on the bottom? That's an LCD readout
Starting with the large attractive all digital instrument console - It's a very simple layout with a large digital speedometer readout dominating the center with a digital fuel level indicator on the right and tell tale warning lights on the left and though it does miss out on a tachometer it still ranks as one of the most attractive in this segment.
The Kwid uses a 7 inch touchscreen that elevates the sense of premium and includes features that few cars in its segment will have.
The highlight of the features list though is the 7-inch colour touchscreen MediaNav system with Bluetooth, that looks very much like the one in the top of the line Duster and Lodgy. From the images you can tell that this will include AUX and USB connectivity. It may also include the hands free remote that usually resides behind the steering wheel. This of course is over and above the regular list of features you expect like central locking, front power windows and air conditioning.
The Kwid offers simple aircon controls, including a thermostat, five-speed blower plus vent/recirculate and blower direction controls
It will also meet all current Indian safety requirements and Renault says air bags will also be an option. While there is no info on the variants on offer you can expect the full list of options only in the top of the line variant.
