The second round of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship for 2 Wheelers was scheduled to be held on 23 and 24 July, 2016. However, it has been announced that the round will be postponed, due to the recent resurfacing of the Madras Motor Racing Track.

While the track was recently resurfaced, the four-wheeler National Racing Championship was held at the MMRT post the resurfacing. Given that the surface of the track was fairly fresh, the top layer of the newly resurfaced track peeled away at certain corners. This has in turn led to a need for further resurfacing, following which the track needs to be cured.

Announcing the rescheduling Vicky Chandhok declared: "The car races this weekend saw the top surface of the track peeling off and we need to carry out necessary repairs. In the interest of the two-wheeler competitors, it was best to reschedule the event. The fresh dates will be announced later.

"We have spoken to all the manufacturers and the privateers involved in the two-wheeler races and they were all very supportive of our decision and understood the reasons for rescheduling the second round."

We will keep you updated on the new dates for the second round of the two-wheeler racing championship when they are announced.
