Sergio Pininfarina passes away at 85

Legendary Italian car designer Sergio Pininfarina passed away at his home in Turin. He is survived by his wife and sons. Born in 1926, Sergio became the chairman of the Pininfarina design house in 1966. In 2006, he became the chairman of the company.

Over his tenure, Pininfarina was at the helm of designing iconic cars like Daytona, Testarossa to the more recent FF, Berlinetta and many more for Ferrari. He also designed the Maserati Quattroporte, Volvo C70, the previous-gen Daewoo Nubira sedan known as the Optra in India and the Tata Prima concept. In 2005, he was appointed as the Life Senator by the Italian president.
