Sherco TVS announces five-member squad for 2019 Baja Aragon

The Sherco TVS rally team has announced its line-up of riders for the 2019 edition of the Baja Aragon Rally. The team will field a five member squad which include Dakar veterans Michael Metge from France and Spain's Lorenzo Santolino. The other three are Indian riders Aravind KP, Harith Noah, and Aishwarya Pissay. All of them will be competing on the factory team's Sherco TVS RTR 450s, the bike which the team also ran during its Dakar campaign.

The Baja Aragon rally is taking place in Teruel, Spain, between July 25th and July 27th. The 827 km event will cover the regions of Jiloca, Sierra de Albarracín, Cuencas Mineras and Community of Teruel. This is the longest-running European event in the Cross-Country speciality and is in its 36th edition.

Aravind KP is the only Indian racer to have completed this year's Dakar

Santolino returns to this rally after recovering from the injuries he sustained during Dakar 2019. It was in this event that the team's other rider, Michael Metge won Stage 9.  Further, Aravind KP is the only Indian racer to have completed this year's Dakar. He and Metge also participated in Merzouga Rally in April this year. Pissay is a 23-year-old racer from Bangalore who is currently leading in women's category of the Baja World Championship.

Aishwarya Pissay is currently leading in women's category of the Baja World Championship.

Commenting on the team's participation, B. Selvaraj, team manager of TVS Racing, said, "It's a thrilling journey for us to take part in the 36th edition of Baja Aragon. The takeaways from such rally events are huge as it results in improving the team's technical capability and provides inputs for the development of robust motorcycles. We are betting it big on Aishwarya, who is currently leading in the Baja World Championship category. Our technical team is putting their best effort to get the bikes ready and we have a good line-up of racers for the strong performance. We can't wait to see the success!"
