Spec Comparo: Benelli Imperiale 400 vs Jawa standard vs Royal Enfield Classic 350 X

Benelli Imperiale 400 is the Italian manufacturer's stint at retro classic motorcycles in India. The motorcycle steps in the Indian market with a price of Rs 1.69 lakh ex-showroom. That positions the Imperiale 400 alongside the Royal Enfield Classis 350 series that has been leading the segment for quite some time now. Also, the Jawa (Standard,) where the company is offering the heritage and legacy with their motorcycles and received a response that made the company pause the bookings for some time.

We compare the specifications of the newest entrant, the Benelli Imperiale 400 to the Jawa (Standard) and the Royal Enfield Classis 350. We shall be considering the dual-channel ABS (Antilock braking System) Model as all the motorcycle in the comparo have dual-channel ABS.

We've already established that the motorcycles carry a retro classic theme, however, what could tilt in Jawa's favour is the dual exhaust system that has a signature note along with appeal in styling.

Benelli Imperiale 400

Engine and Drivetrain,

While all the motorcycles are single-cylinder, the Jawa offers the one with a liquid-cooling system for the engine while the other to resort on air-cooling. Also, while the Benelli and Royal Enfield offer a five-speed gearbox, Jawa has a six-speed unit on offer. That said, the next-generation Royal Enfield motorcycles with new drivetrain have been spotted on test in India. The newer BSVI models are expected to be launched in India before the BSVI compliance deadline closes in. Currently, the Classic 350 X is the one that uses a carburettor while the other two are equipped with fuel injection.

Jawa Standard

Power Figures,

Jawa has the highest power output in the comparo - Producing 27.3PS and 28Nm of torque. There is a very close fight between the Imperiale 400 and the Classic 350 X, however, the second position is held by Imperial 400 with 21PS and 29Nm at disposal. The Classic 350X has an output of 20Ps and 28Nm.

Royal X

Cycle Parts,

Following the retro-classic theme, the motorcycle sport spoke wired rims. The rim size on the Royal Enfield Classic 350 X and Benelli Imperiale 400 is 19-inch front and 18-inch rear. Whereas, the Jawa gets 18-inch in the front and 17-inch in the rear. All the three motorcycles get conventional forks in the front and dual-shock absorbers in the rear, however, the Imperiale 400 misses out on gas-filled absorbers in the rear. All the motorcycles in the comparo get disc brake setup on both ends with ABS.

Pricing,

The Imperiale 400 is positioned above other to motorcycles in the comparo at Rs 1.69 lakh ex-showroom India. The Jawa (Standard) undercuts the Imperiale 400 by a small margin at Rs 1.64 lakh ex-showroom. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 X is priced at Rs 1.54 lakh ex-showroom Idia making it the most economical option.
