Tata Nexon EV to be launched in first quarter of 2020 - expected price Rs 15-17 lakh

With a surge of EVs in India, Tata Motors also plans to join the bandwagon. The first EV slated for the India market is the electric version of their sub-compact SUV - Nexon EV. The Tata Nexon EV is said to be launched in the first quarter of 2020. Right in time for the Delhi Auto Expo.

The Nexon EV will have a range of 300kms, courtesy, the Ziptron drivetrain that Tata Motors unveiled recently. The drivetrain has been tested over lakhs of kilometres and meets the IP67 standards which means the battery pack is dust and waterproof.  The battery packs will be encased in high strength steel cases and will use liquid-cooling to optimise cooling. The company will also offer an eight-year warranty on the battery pack. Following the Nexon EV could be the upcoming Altroz hatchback that could be offered with a similar electric drivetrain. The expected ex-showroom cost of the Nexon EV is said to be between Rs 15-17 lakh mark.

Celebrities like Milind Soman and Ankita Konwar have been looped in for promotions where the couple will drive the Nexon EV Manali to Leh.
