Abhishek Samuel Updated: August 31, 2018, 02:10 PM IST

OVERDRIVE officially turns 20 this September, and we have made sure that we celebrate not only on our own behalf but yours too! This promises to be a landmark issue with SUVs at its heart. There are some truly epic moments of the past and not to forget faces that we recall as we celebrate this score. Amid the flashbacks are also dreams fulfilled, and breakthrough stories. Read on to know what you can expect to see in the 302 pages of the September 2018 issue of OVERDRIVE.

Starting from the start, all four of our past Editors reprise their columns to be a part of the party. Adil Jal Darukhanawala, Yogendra Pratap, Sirish Chandran, and Bertrand D'Souza talk about their part in this 20-year journey. Along the way, we also take a look at the 20 best OVERDRIVE features over the past two decades. What about the future, you wonder? We all write about our ultimate automotive dreams. And seeing as how Vaishali and Abhay fulfilled theirs by driving a Formula 1 race car, ours should be coming along any time now.

At the centre of the issue is the 60-page behemoth of an SUV shootout we call the OD Slugfest. We take 25 SUVs to a stage of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship in Chikmagalur. The weather, our testers and the terrain push the vehicles to see what shines and what doesn't. This Slugfest is the biggest such SUV evaluation ever in Indian motoring! And if that wasn't enough, Simran tells you about how it is to live with a race car on a day-to-day basis. We also drive the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler in the US. Read about our first impression of the biggest launch in recent times, the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

Then comes a detailed breakdown of the most versatile big bike platform in the country, the Kawasaki 650cc platform. There is also the comparison between Japanese practicality and Italian craftsmanship in the Suzuki GSX-S750 vs Ducati Monster 821. As always, we take our annual trip to the Himalayas in Audi SUVs, while Editor Shubhabrata Marmar manages a blitz through Spiti on the new Triumph Tiger 800 XCx. And carrying our theme of 20, we write about the motorcycles in the 20PS Club, which has evolved into a diverse space in the Indian market.

Over in motorsport, we take you to the Rainforest Challenge India in Goa, the Asia Road Racing Championship 2018 round in Chennai as well as the Volkswagen Ameo Cup. Read about the top three WRC rally drivers, motorcycle racer Mick Doohan, as well as the automotive celebration that is the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

You think that's all? Nah uh. There's plenty more where that came from. There are 302 pages of fun just waiting for you in our 20th Anniversary special issue. And don't forget, there are prizes worth Rs 20 lakh to be won in our various contests. So what are you waiting for? Run to your newsstand and pick up a copy now!
