Unveiled Audi A3 e-tron
Audi's efforts at bringing electric powertrains to the masses are finally bringing fruits with the German automaker all set to unveil the A3 e-tron at the Geneva Auto Show 2013. The e-tron Audi A3 uses a 1.4TFSI engine which is good for 150PS. A clutch links the TFSI to an electric motor with an output of 75 kW. Both the powerplants complement each other with power being transferred to the front wheels via a six-speed e-S tronic box. The plug-in hybrid car returns a claimed 66.66kmpl and in only-electric mode, can travel up to 50km at a top speed of 130kmph.
0-100 in 7.6seconds and a top whack of 222kmph are the numbers Audi claims for the A3 e-tron. The e-tron can be driven only with the petrol engine, electric motor or both.
