Upcoming 2020 Hyundai i20 hatchback spotted undisguised
The third-gen Hyundai i20, set to launch in India later this year, has been spotted undisguised in its home market of South Korea. The new i20 has already been revealed in Europe and is expected to make its way here around the festive season.
As seen in these images, the upcoming i20 also carries an interpretation of Hyundai latest design philosophy, This is characterised by the wide full-faced grille, the angular design elements and the sharp lines and creases. The new i20 gets dual-tone alloy wheels redesigned to match the overall design philosophy. The rear-end of the car gets sharp triangular tail lamps which are joined by a floating strip, another new Hyundai design trait. The new i20 also gets chrome inserts in the side profile under the windows.
Sketches have shown that the new i20's interior will draw influences from cars like the Creta and Nios. We expect to see the same four-spoke alloy wheels, the floating instrument cluster and other details like the low set air vents and controls.
We expect a similar play of different materials and trims like in the Venue and Nios and features like eight-inch infotainment with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a sunroof, the Blue Link suite of connected-car tech. Engine options should mirror that of newer Hyundais. So expect the 1.2-litre petrol with 83PS and 113Nm. The 1.0-litre turbo could come in the same state of tune as in the Venue, with 120PS/173Nm. Further, the 1.5-litre 115PS/250Nm diesel from the Venue is also expected to make an appearance here. Aside from a 6-speed manual, expect the turbo-petrol to get a 7-speed DCT option and the diesel a 6-speed torque converter.
Prices of new Hyundai i20 are expected to increase by Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000 over the current car which starts at Rs 6.5 lakh and goes up to Rs 8.3 lakh. The new i20 will go up against the likes of the Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz and so on.
