Upcoming Ford launches in India: Ecosport S, Endeavour facelift and 2019 Mustang

Ford surprised everyone with the pricing of the newly launched Freestyle in India. At Rs 5.09 lakh, the Freestyle is not only the most affordable and feature packed Ford car to on sale, but also undercuts its main rivals by a huge margin. Even the 2018 Ford EcoSport, with its host of changes, feature updates and also the introduction of the new Dragon petrol engine, was launched at the exact same price as its previous offering. We believe Ford will maintain this aggressive momentum in the country with its upcoming launches as well. Here are the three new car launches from Ford that are scheduled to take place in 2018-19.

Ford EcoSport S

Expected launch: June 2018

Ford EcoSport S will come with sporty alloys, new grille, smoked headlights and sunroof

The Ford EcoSport S will be positioned as the top of the line variant. It will be equipped a sunroof, smoked headlights, blackened grille and a newer alloy wheel design that looks similar to the one offered in the international markets. Importantly, Ford India will be introducing a 6-speed manual transmission on the all-new 1.5-litre 3-cylinder Dragon petrol engine. As seen in the Figo S, we believe the EcoSport S too will come with a comparatively stiffer suspension setup to offer a sportier ride quality. More details on the Ford EcoSport S here.

Ford Endeavour facelift

Expected launch: Early 2019

The flagship Ford SUV, Endeavour will be getting a facelift. The launch of the same is expected to place in 2019. From the spied images, the changes on the 2019 Ford Endeavour look subtle except for a minor tweak in the grille design and also larger possibly 20-inch six-double-spoke alloy wheels. Since this one will be a facelift, the 2.2L and 3.2L diesel powertrains will continue to do duty on the updated Endeavour as well. The power and torque ratings of both the engines might remain unchanged.

Ford Mustang refresh

Expected launch: End 2019

Design, features and more powerful engine makes the 2019 Ford Mustang

Ford's halo offering in India, the Mustang will be refreshed for 2019. This one gets a tweaked grille and bonnet design that make the front look leaner than before. The vents on the bonnet too have been repositioned. Importantly, for the first time, the Mustang gets all-LED headlights with updated DRLs embedded in the headlight cluster. The side profile remains identical and doesn't get any significant update except for sporty alloy wheels. On the rear, the 2018 Mustang gets revised LED tail lamps along with a new bumper and an optional spoiler. Dual-tip exhaust is standard for EcoBoost Mustang, while the V8 Mustang GT gets a standard quad-tip exhaust. The 5.0-litre V8, that is sold in India, will make more power and rev higher than the previous Mustangs with the use of new high-pressure direct injection and low-pressure port fuel injection in the V8 to make it deliver a strong low-end torque, higher peak power output and also improved fuel efficiency.
