Updated TVS Apache RR 310 coming soon!

Team OD Updated: June 20, 2019, 11:52 AM IST

TVS Motor has just sent out a teaser video, along with an invitation to OVERDRIVE, to test ride a new variant of an existing product. No prizes for guessing the motorcycle in the screenshot here from the video is the TVS Apache RR 310. The motorcycle was launched in December 2017 and has been TVS Motor's flagship product ever since. We knew that TVS has been working on updating the motorcycle for some time now and the invite clears the air about the updated Apache RR 310 being ready for launch.

A screenshot from TVS Motor only shows the silhouette of the updated Apache RR 310, but we expect the bike to be more powerful and perhaps handle better than before

TVS Motor mentions that the variant in question will be new and exciting, which points towards it being more powerful. This hints towards an updated engine and/or ECU and perhaps tweaks to the chassis and suspension as well. TVS Motor has been using the Apache RR 310 in its dedicated one-make championship as well and goes without saying, its racing division, TVS Racing, is sure to have helped the product development team tune and tweak the package that the Apache RR 310 is, to make it sharper, possibly in terms of performance and handling both.

The second generation TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is a great example of a road-going product benefitting from TVS Racing's prowess on track, as the new 160 is leagues ahead of its previous version in terms of refinement, performance, handling and more. We can thus expect the updated Apache RR 310 to build further on the current bike's excellent performance and handling while feeling more refined. The silhouette of the motorcycle in the video does not reveal much except for telling us the motorcycle has been 'Crafted to be invisible', which is another hint towards the RR 310 getting more power.

The current TVS Apache RR 310 is the manufacturer's most powerful motorcycle (34PS and 27.5Nm), but could get a bump up in terms of performance as part of the update

The current version of the motorcycle, powered by the same 313cc, liquid-cooled single cylinder engine as the BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS, offers the same 34PS and 27.5Nm, but the figures could go up, though we are not expecting significant changes to the engine. TVS Motor could also offer the Apache RR 310 in more colours as the bike is currently offered only in matte black and gloss red, but TVS might just offer the bike in white as well. Stay tuned to OVERDRIVE for more information – the updated RR 310 is due to be launched towards the end of this month and we will be bringing you a detailed first ride report from the Madras Motor Race Track!
