VW Ameo Cup 2019: Intense fitness camp helps prepare drivers for Kari Motor Speedway season-opener
In preparation for the first round of the 2019 Ameo Cup to be held at the Kari Motor Speedway from June 22 to 23, Volkswagen Motorsport had organised a two-day fitness camp at its Pune facility.
The drivers underwent a two-day training programme on to help develop their mental and physical strength
Through this event, the outfit wanted to get a sense of the drivers' fitness levels and help them achieve the fitness needed for the race track. The drivers had to undergo multiple sessions on posture correction, diet and nutrition. The training sessions were also meant to enhance their performance with prehab and rehab training.
The first day began with counselling sessions with fitness coaches Brent Wood Townend and Stuart Dolman. They conducted bio-mechanics and basic conditioning tests for racers along with Body Composition Analysis. Drivers then received demonstrations on the basics of calisthenics to help with fitness and smoother movements. The next day, there were interactive sessions with Prehab 21 on rehab training and postural corrections. This teaches racers how to proactively prevent injuries and keep their neck, core and wrists safe. This was followed by a yoga session and a Technique and Form Correction session by an IFBB Pro Gold Medalist and Power Lifter Tejaswini Pandit.
