2013 Geneva Auto Show: Volkswagen Golf GTI and GTD

The new Golf GTI is powered by a two-litre four cylinder TSI petrol engine that is available in two levels of power output â" 220PS and 230PS. The 230PS 'performance pack' version will also be equipped with bigger brakes and a torque-sensing limited-slip differential. Volkswagen claims that this model will be up to 18 per cent more efficient than the previous GTI. The GTD too is similarly updated with the 184PS EA288 two litre TDI diesel engine that delivers 380Nm of torque at just 1750prm. Both will feature either a six speed manual or six speed DSG gearbox and economy boosting start stop technology.

The new Golf will go on sale in May in Europe with prices starting at Rs 20.19 lakhfor the GTI and Rs 20.91 lakh for the GTD.
