2013 Honda CR-V launched in India
Honda has launched the fourth-gen CR-V in India. Available in four trims with Inspire and Elegance styling packages, prices for the CR-V start from Rs 19.95 lakh ex-Delhi. For the first time, the company will be assembling the CR-V at its Greater Noida facility in India. The 2013 CR-V gets a new grille with the headlamps also now looking sharper than before. Though the CR-V is shorter in length by 30mm than the outgoing SUV, it still retains the same wheelbase as before (2620mm). The tail lamps are wraparound units and have sharp edges.
Inside, the new CR-V boasts of having a new dashboard and steering wheel. Honda has kitted the steering wheel with audio and cruise control as also multi information display as standard. Bluetooth connectivity and satellite navigation comes standard in the top of the line variant and even the base trims get DVD, USB, iPod connectivity and reverse camera.
Engines have been retained from the outgoing car, however, Honda has tweaked the 2.0 and 2.4-litre engines to produce more power. The 156PS (earlier 143PS) 2.0-litre petrol engine can now be mated to a 5-speed auto or a 6-speed manual. The updated 190PS (earlier 161PS) 226Nm 2.4-litre engine comes only with the 5-speed auto and 4-wheel drive. Honda claims that the 2.0-litre engine CR-V will run 13.7km on a litre of petrol while the 2.4 will do 12kmpl. The updated CR-V will compete with, amongst others, the Mitsubishi Outlander, Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota Fortuner.
