Kawasaki was the first of the four major Japanese motorcycle makers to offer electronic rider aids on its motorcycles when it introduced traction control on its Ninja ZX-10R in 2011. For 2013, Kawasaki has given its litre-class superbike an Ohlins electronic steering damper controlled by a dedicated ECU. This ECU reacts to the rate of acceleration, braking and rear wheel speed to bring about a change in the damping rate, thus offering a light response while steering at low speeds, and well-damped stability at high speeds.
