2014 Paris Motor Show: 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport showcased

05 Oct 2014 / 0

Land Rover left no stone unturned to keep people talking about their new SUV at the Paris Motor Show this year – the 2015 Discovery Sport was showcased inside the venue in that fiery orange avatar. And there was also an 80 metre long barge along the River Seine where the SUV tackled obstacles to establish its off-roading abilities. Scroll down to have a look at Land Rover’s latest offering, set to hit our shores some time next year.

The front looks curvier than the previous SUVs from JLR. The headlamps come with a new LED signature and drastic detailing around them

While it’s longer than the Freelander (to accommodate that famous third row of seats) , it’s got a lower stance. Note the reverse-angled C-pillar

The Discovery Sport borrows the platform from the Freelander and Range Rover Evoque. But major modifications were made before incorporating it in the Sport, says Land Rover

“The Discoveries are more of a radical departure than the Range Rovers”, says Gerry McGovern, responsible for the design of the Discovery Sport

The heavily teased third row of seats confirm rumours of the Sport being a seven-seater

Ribbed-leather detailing on the seats lend a premium character to the interior

The Discovery Sport features an all-new infotainment system that’s claimed to operate with the ease of a smart phone, with pinch-and-zoom functionality. Apps like internet radio, sat-nav along with on-board Wi-fi are also included

A five-inch TFT screen sits between the two analogue instrument clusters, displaying key information such as indication that the SUV is on off-road mode

The panoramic sunroof for those perfect sunny days. Or for burning vampires in daylight

The 80 metre long barge along River Seine in Paris was used to flaunt the Discovery Sport’s major off-roading character

The SUV features the new 187PS 2.2-litre SD4 engine used elsewhere in the Jaguar Land Rover range

Discovery Sport owners can opt for a nine-speed auto or six-speed manual, four or two-wheel-drive transmission
