Mercedes-Benz began 2014 with the launch of the new S-Class and are ending the year on a high with the introduction of the baby S-Class - the W205 C-Class. The new C-Class was initially planned for an early 2015 launch for India. However, the previous generation model was going so strong that Mercedes-Benz India ran out of stocks faster than they predicted. The launch of the new C-Class was therefore preponed. The initial models, though, will be imported as completely built units (CBU). The locally produced variants, including the diesels, will be introduced in 2015. At a starting price of Rs 40.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the fully-laden C 200 is only marginally pricier than its outgoing counterpart which was priced between Rs 33.5 to 38 lakh.

The claimed fuel economy figure is 14.74kmpl.

On the inside is a larger cabin, S-Class inspired design, Burmester audio and a new Comand infotainment system. Creature comforts and features like full leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, driver and passenger electric seat adjust including thigh support, keyless ignition, 3D navigation, ambient lighting, LED headlamps etc are also offered as standard.
