Mercedes Benz has officially revealed everything that you need to know about the all-new C-Class. The 2015 Mercedes Benz C-Class, like always, is a 'baby-Benz' in the true sense of the word. Crafted to be a miniature version of the flagship S-Class, the new C-Class still manages to stay true to its classic proportions with a long nose and a short boot with minimal overhangs. The S-Class influence is visible through the design of the front fascia, the headlamps and the tail lamps. Compared to the CLA, the new C-Class has subtler lines through the bodywork, while the bumpers, air dams, grille and exhaust mufflers highlight its sports-sedan form factor. The car features H7 halogen headlamps as standard fitment, but the new C-Class can also be specified with LED fitment.

On the inside, the C-Class gets one of the best-looking cabins in the current Mercedes-Benz line-up. Taking inspiration from the S-class again, the interiors feature a high-rise, flowing centre-console, while the switches seem like they came straight out of the flagship limo. The three-spoke steering wheel is new, while the air-con vents, the infotainment display and the instrumentation are a clear evolution of the units seen the new generation Mercs like the A-, B- and CLA-Class. The infotainment system features the latest COMAND interface and uses the car's body-shell as a resonance chamber for the speaker setup.

The new C-Class also sets out to redefine the segment when it comes to new features. Like in the S-Class, the new climate control system works with the GPS unit to switch between recirculation and fresh-intake modes and features a new AIR-BALANCE tech that ionizes the air inside the cabin while also adding a hint of fragrance. The centre console features a touchpad for phone controls and it also features handwriting recognition. There's a head-up display like in the BMWs. And as if upholstery and trim customisation wasn't enough, the new C-Class can also be specified with different interior designs depending on what grade you choose – sporty 'Avantagarde', or luxurious 'Exclusive' or an outrageous 'AMG'!

Safety features have been taken to a new level too. The host of safety systems comprise of Attention Assist, Adaptive Brake Assist, Collision Prevention Assist Plus, Distronic Plus with Steering Assist, Brake Assist System Plus, Enhanced Active Lane-Keeping Assist, Active Park Assist, a 360-degree camera and Traffic Sign Assist with Wrong-Way Alert. Expect some of them to be given the boot when 2015 C-Class comes to India. There are new types of airbags too – pelvis airbag for the front seats, a new window airbag, new side airbags for the outer rear seats and a knee airbag for the driver.

The engine line-up includes one diesel and two petrols. The diesel option comes in the form of the C220 BlueTEC which employs a 2.2-litre oiler that produces 170PS of power and 400Nm of torque, while claiming a fuel economy of 25kmpl and CO2 emissions of 103 g/km. The petrol line-up includes a C180 with a 156PS/250Nm 1.6-litre engine claiming 20kmpl/116g/km and a C200 which uses a 2.0-litre, 184PS/300Nm engine that claims 18.86kmpl and 123g/km.

These are also the engines that are likely to come to India when the C-class goes on sale in our country by mid-2014. It will be interesting to see what sort of equipment list Mercedes-Benz plans for India though. That said, expect the 2015 Mercedes Benz C-class to be pricier than its outgoing counterpart in India, for that would leave enough room over the A- and B-class for the upcoming CLA-class sedan to fit in.
