2016 Auto Expo: Honda Accord Hybrid unveiled (Images)
Honda showcased the India-bound Accord Hybrid at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Accord set a benchmark for premium sedans when it was launched in India in 2001. The sedan did offer great dynamics and performance but due to the unavailability of a diesel engine, Honda discontinued the Accord in early 2014.
But now since the market has matured to hybrids, Honda is all set to launch the new Accord in India. The Japanese car maker showcased a hybrid version of the sedan which we believe will be launched in India. Also, considering the popularity of the Camry hybrid (the same segment as the Accord) which was been doing great numbers, it makes more sense for Honda to launch the new generation Accord in hybrid.
The new Honda Accord Hybrid gets a modern exterior with all-LED headlights, daytime running lamps, fog lamps and rear combination lamp. Dimensionally, it measures 4,933 mm in length, 1,849mm in width and 1,475m in height. The wheelbase has been retained at 2,775 mm. The interiors get a 7-inch infotainment screen, dual zone climate control and power adjustable driver seat. In terms of safety, the new Accord will get six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill start and vehicle stability assists.
The 2.0-litre engine that might power the Honda Accord Hybrid makes 141PS / 122Nm. With the electric motor, the hybrid system collectively makes 196PS. Power is transmitted to the front wheels with the help of a E-CVT gearbox.
