2016 Hyundai Tucson variants in India explained

Hyundai India has opened sales of the new Tucson SUV at Rs 18.99 lakh for the petrol and Rs 21.59 lakh for the diesel variants. There are five trims in all. This includes manual as well as automatic options but no four wheel or all-wheel drive. Hyundai offers the car with five colour options as well. Here we have detailed down the trims that Hyundai is offering and what each brings to the table.

Hyundai Tucson 2WD MT petrol

This is the base trim and retails for Rs 18.99 lakh, ex-Delhi. On the outside, it gets automatic projector headlamps with follow me home function, LED DRLs and position lamps, silver front grille, front and rear fog lamps, body coloured electrically adjustable, foldable and heated ORVMs, roof rails, rear spoiler, rear wiper and washer, 17-inch diamond cut alloys and reverse parking camera with rear sensors. Inside there is two-tone cloth upholstery, leather wrapped steering wheel, console arm rest, door arm rest, transmission knob, silver inside door handle, manual AC, manual driver seat height adjustment, day and night IRVM, cruise control, 60:40 rear split seats with a reclining function for the second row, cooled glove box, all four power windows, height adjustable head rests, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual airbags, ABS with EBD and speed sensing door locks.

It is powered by the same 2.0-litre petrol Nu engine from the Elantra but in a higher state of tune (155PS/192Nm compared to the sedan's 152PS/192Nm). Here, it can be optioned with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic (details in the next row). Hyundai claims a fuel efficiency of 13.03kmpl from the manual petrol trim.

In addition to the features of the MT, the petrol GL AT also gets the halogen static bending lamps, chrome finish belt line, chrome grille, leather upholstery, R18 diamond cut alloys, dual zone automatic climate control, rear AC, 10-way power adjustable driver's seat, compass on the IRVM, push button start, front pocket lighting, welcome lighting, screen for the luggage, Drive Mode select which helps with the Power and Eco switches, additional four airbags and front parking sensors. It uses the same 155PS/192Nm petrol engine, but paired to a 6-speed automatic. The claimed fuel efficiency is 12.95kmpl. The Hyundai Tucson 2WD AT GL at Rs 21.79 lakh.

Hyundai Tucson 2WD diesel MT

Front and rear skid plates, twin chrome exhaust and a new 2.0-litre 185PS/400Nm turbodiesel engine are the changes over the petrol MT trim. The car retails for Rs 21.59 lakh and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 18.42kmpl.

Hyundai Tucson 2WD diesel GL AT

The features of the petrol and diesel AT GL are the same. The claimed fuel efficiency is 16.38kmpl while the listed price is Rs 23.48 lakh.

Hyundai Tucson 2WD diesel GLS AT

The diesel Tucson can also be ordered in the highest trim possible as of now with the SUV - GLS. It is priced at Rs 24.99 lakh and gets all the bells and whistles. This includes dual barrel LED headlamps, LED bending static headlamps, LED rear combination lamps, supervision cluster inside the cabin, handsfree power tailgate, vehicle stability management, electronic stability control, hill assist, downhill assist and brake assist.
