Porsche, at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show launched the 2018 911 GT3. With this car, Porsche it seems, has done all it could to please driving enthusiasts all over the world.

The 2018 911 GT3 gets new aerodynamic treatments including a new front spoiler, a new rear diffuser and a carbon fiber rear wing. The rest of the car has the same design elements that make the 911, the instantly recognisable car that it is. While the Porsche 911 GT3 does have the aggressive look of a high-performance sportscar, its design is more function than form.

The 911 GT3 has been a driving enthusiast's car ever since it was first launched, with some even calling it a race car for the road. The previous iteration of the 911 GT3 though, hit a sour note with the Porsche purists because of the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. That however, has been sorted out with this car as it offers a 6-speed manual gearbox as an option along with the 7-speed PDK at the same price. And a rear engine, rear wheel drive Porsche with a manual gearbox is just what the purists want.

Another big talking point about the gearbox is that it was developed by Porsche's GT department and is taken straight from the 911 R. This means, shorter throws for better feel and also shorter ratios for better acceleration.

The 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 will be powered by a 500PS/460Nm 4.0-litre naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine that is based on the same engine used by the latest 911 GT3 R and 911 RSR racecars. In fact, the car itself will be built on the same production line as the racecars.

Porsche claims that the 2018 911 GT3 can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 3.8s with a top speed of 319kmph with the manual gearbox. The dual-clutch equipped car though, can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 3.2s, with top speed at 317kmph.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 also gets rear-wheel steering to enhance handling. This steering system is capable of turning the rear wheels in, or out of tandem with the front wheels. This system improves cornering ability significantly also keeps the car stable while making high-speed direction changes. A locking rear-differential and dynamic engine mounts also come as standard further enhancing the handling on the sportscar.

Priced at $1,43,600 (Rs 95.69 lakh), the 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 will arrive at US dealerships by the end of this year.
