2017 Triumph Street Scrambler launched in India at Rs 8.10 lakh
Triumph Motorcycles India has launched the new Street Scrambler at Rs 8.10 lakh ex-showroom pan-India. Essentially a Bonneville Street Twin with a more purposeful Scrambler styling, the Triumph Street Scrambler is assembled in India and is aimed at those who like to ride their bike, both on and off road. The Street Scrambler can be booked at any one of the 14 Triumph dealerships around the country. Triumph says that the Street Scrambler can be ordered in three different colour options and customers can also customise the motorcycle with more than 150 genuine accessories.
The bits that transforms the Street Twin to the Scrambler includes wide handlebars and a low seat height, a proper metal bashplate to protect the underbelly and more importantly a bigger, 19-inch wire-spoke front wheel. The Street Scrambler runs on Metzeler Tourance tyres that offer sufficient grip on tarmac as well as when trail riding. The twin exhaust pipes run parallel to the seat and are placed quite high, which suggests excellent water wading capabilities too .
Triumph will also offer a interchangeable pillion seat that can be swapped for an aluminium rack, for those solo rides into the trails. The foot pegs for the pillion can also be detached, if required. The Street Scrambler is powered by a 900cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, parallel twin engine that develops 55PS at 6,000rpm and 80Nm at 2,850rpm. The engine has been tweaked for better throttle response and more power, lower down the rev range.
Upfront are longer 41mm, KYB forks, with 120mm wheel travel and twin, preload adjustable shocks at the rear with 120mm rear wheel travel. The bike gets a single 300mm disc at the front with two-pot Nissin calipers. Triumph has given the Street Scrambler a raft of electronic aids such as switchable traction control as well as switchable ABS, for those who like some sideways action. Triumph adds that the tubular chassis has been developed to offer a predictable ride, even while standing on the pegs and riding.

While it may not be a true blue off-road bike, the Triumph Street Scrambler offers a blend of on and off capability married to a classic British bike design that looks quite appealing too.
