Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) is all set to launch the new-gen Amaze sedan in India on May 16, 2018. The company has started production of the sedan at the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. HCIL states that India is an important country for the Japanese car manufacturer as the global launch of the 2018 Amaze happens here. While Honda dealers across the country have already started accepting bookings for the 2018 Amaze, the deliveries will begin shortly after the launch, confirmed an official statement.

"This model (new-gen Amaze) will be a game changer for Honda Cars India – both in terms of boosting our business and further strengthening our model-lineup with advanced technology. The 2nd Generation Amaze has received excellent response from customers since its world premiere at the Auto Expo. As a special gesture to the customers who are booking the car even before knowing the price and variant details, we have decided to offer a special introductory price for the initial 20,000 bookings." mentioned Rajesh Goel, Sr. Vice President & Director, Honda Cars India Ltd

The first generation Amaze was introduced in India in year 2013. It marked Honda's entry into compact sedan segment and was the first car in the company's product line-up to get the i-DTEC diesel engine technology. The engines of the 2018 Amaze will be the same as before which means the petrol engine will be Honda's 1.2-litre, four cylinder petrol engine offering 90PS and 110Nm that also powers the Honda Jazz and Brio. The diesel will be the same, 1.5-litre four cylinder diesel as the City and Jazz. Outputs for the diesel stand at 100PS and 200Nm for the manual and 80PS and 160Nm for the automatic version. ARAI certified fuel efficiency numbers for the Amaze stand at 19.5kmpl and 19kmpl for the petrol manual and automatic respectively and 27.8kmpl and 23.8kmpl for the diesel manual and automatic respectively. Honda states it has worked extensively on reducing the diesel engine's noise levels by changing the design of some of the core friction parts like the pistons, cylinder blocks, oil pumps and chain systems. There's better sound insulation as well, aimed at reducing noise levels inside the cabin.  We have already driven the 2018 Honda Amaze and here are our initial impressions.
