Mini India has launched the 2018 range of the Cooper S and Cooper D cars in India. Both the S and the D is available in 3-door and 5-door variants while the Cooper S can be opted in a convertible version as well. Prices start at Rs 29.70 lakh and go up to Rs 37.10 lakh for the open top variant. All prices are ex-showroom, including GST.

The cars have the same, quintessential Mini silhouette, however, there are a few tweaks that lend the 2018 Coopers a distinct flair. The new Mini logo makes its way on the bonnet, hatch, steering wheel, central instrument display and the remote control. The circular LED headlamps are modified slightly, featuring a new lens design and a DRL that doubles up as the turn/ hazard indicator as well. Mini is also offering adaptive LED lights that include cornering function and a Matrix pattern to prevent blinding oncoming traffic. The rear LED lamps has a unique Union Jack pattern, as an ode to Mini's British origins.

The interior gets a refresh as well, featuring new materials and Leather Chester Malt upholstery and an optional backlit interior surface on the passenger side fascia. Customers can also opt for Mini Excitement Pack that features LED ambient lighting in twelve different colours. The leather-wrapped, multi-functional steering wheel is now standard and so are the sports seats.

Other options include the Mini Wired package that offers an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, 20GB internal storage. In addition, you also get a 360W, Harmon Kardon speaker system.

The Mini Cooper S and Cooper S convertible is powered by a 2-litre, four cylinder petrol motor that develops 192PS and 280Nm. The engine is paired to a new, 7-speed double clutch Steptronic transmission.  Mini claims the Cooper S can sprint from 0-100kmph in 3.5s and hit a top speed of 235kmph. For the discerning few who'd want a more focused Mini, an optional, 7-speed dual clutch sports transmission is also available. It has shorter gear ratios for quicker acceleration, a different gear lever gaiter and paddle shifts in the steering wheel.

The new Mini Coopers are available in three new colours - Emerald Grey metallic, Starlit Blue metallic and Solaris Orange metallic.

Speaking at the launch of the 2018 Mini Cooper, Vikram Pawah, president, BMW Group India said that the new Mini hatch and Mini convertible amplifies Mini's emotional design, go-kart-like driving excitement and functionality.
