Audi A3 sedan launched in India with prices starting at Rs 22.95 lakh

Audi's baby sedan has been launched today with prices starting at Rs 22.95 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The A3 is available with two engine options and is priced rather competitively compared to the BMW 1 Series and Mercedes-Benz A- and B-Class.

The A3 sedan just looks like its bigger siblings, the A4 and the A6 but in a smaller package. It is also the first bearer of the new badging that Audi will adopt in all its cars from here on. The Audi A3 35 TDI will be powered by the familiar 2.0-litre diesel engine in a 143PS state of tune. The petrol A3 is dubbed as the 40 TFSI and uses the 1.8-litre turbo-petrol motor with an output of 180PS. Both engines come with the S-tronic dual-clutch transmission.

Audi will offer an optional S-line body and accent kit on the A3 and the car can also be specified with optional 17-inch wheels and tyres. The A3 also gets LED DRLs and bi-xenon headlamps.

Inside the cabin too, the A3 doesn't feel any less luxurious than its brethren. The steering wheel is leather wrapped while there is the 7-inch MMI screen, complemented by handwriting recognition and buttons on the central console. The MMI is mated to a 20GB hard drive for storing music. The A3's cabin also gets dual zone climate control, LED accent lighting and a panoramic sunroof. The front seats are electrically adjustable.

Depending on the spec, the A3 comes equipped with seven airbags, a secondary collision assist and a pedestrian-safe active bonnet. There is also a rest recommendation system, which warns the driver of fatigue.

The Audi A3 will be available in four trim levels for the diesel variant and one trim for the petrol variant. The prices (ex-showroom Delhi) are as follows:
