Audi presents the triple-charged RS5 TDI concept
After giving firm competition to gasoline powered rivals at Le Mans and the International Endurance Championship for about a decade now, Audi now introduces the triple charged RS5 TDI concept. It is scheduled to debut at the ongoing Leipzig Auto Show to celebrate 25 years of the TDI engine, where the sports car version of the production RS5 will be showcased.

The RS5 TDI concept replaces the production model's 4.2-litre V8 with the 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbocharged TDI diesel engine that was revealed by the carmaker earlier this month. The concept also includes an electric supercharger which powers the RS5 TDI from 0-100kmph in just four seconds. The diesel concept produces 390PS of power and 750Nm of torque between 1250-2000rpm. This leaves the concept with marginally lesser power compared to the production variant but adds an amazing 320Nm of torque. The electric supercharger also enables a fuel efficiency as high as 20kmpl, which is greater than the figures of the production RS5.

The new 3.0-litre TDI is also expected to be featured in the A4 later this year, making it the first production car to sport this engine.
