Auto Expo 2020: Hero Cycles showcases battery-powered bicycles

Hero Cycles showcased three battery-powered cycles at the Auto Expo, which are expected to go on sale by the second quarter of 2020. The three products showcased were Easy Step, Straphanger and Essentia Connect.

Easy Step is the electric cycle targeted towards the commuting class for their last-mile solution. The features include a foldable body and 7-speed drivetrain. The Easy Step is expected to be in the price bracket of Rs 35,000-40,000. Straphanger, also supported by battery is expected to be in the Rs 40,000 ballpark, while the Essentia Connect gets the higher-rated 250W motor. All the three cycles get connected technology which will connect to the user/rider's smartphone via Hero's application. The application will record the essential ride data and can be accessed if the rider wishes to do so. Hero Cycles also showcased e-bikes from the recently-acquired German firm HNF Nicolai which will soon be launched in India.
