The Chevrolet Enjoy, which was launched in 2013, is the first MPV offering from General Motors in India. Our first drive of the Enjoy MPV left us with mixed reactions. One of the most appealing bits of the Enjoy was its affordable price tag, especially when compared to the Maruti Ertiga and the previous-generation Toyota Innova.
Until a few weeks back, the Chevrolet Enjoy petrol and diesel range used to start at Rs 6.51 lakh and Rs 7.88 lakh respectively for the base 8-seater LS version. Now Chevrolet India has slashed prices of the entire Enjoy range by over Rs 1.5 lakh depending on the variants.
The base petrol Chevrolet Enjoy, which is now Rs 1.52 lakh cheaper, starts at Rs 4.99 lakh. The diesel variant on the other hand starts at Rs 5.99 lakh for the base 8-seater LS trim, making it Rs 1.89 lakh cheaper than before. The price of the top-spec Chevrolet Enjoy LTZ petrol with seven seats has been slashed by Rs 1.80 lakh making it Rs 6.24 lakh. The top-end diesel counterpart meanwhile is now priced at Rs 7.24 lakh from the previous Rs 9.17 lakh. That is a price difference of around Rs 1.93 lakh.
The Enjoy petrol is powered by a 1.4-litre engine which produces 104PS of power and 131Nm of torque. The Enjoy diesel is powered by a 1.3-litre engine which generates 77.5PS and 188Nm of torque. Both engines come with a 5-speed manual transmission. In June this year, there were reports that Chevrolet might discontinue the Enjoy but the company had denied it at that time. Also, there was a possibility that the Chevrolet Spin MPV might replace the Enjoy. However, that too is unlikely to happen.
The Enjoy didn’t turn out to be as popular among buyers as the company had expected it to. It was the third model that was developed by the GM SAIC partnership. Since the past few years, it has only been bought by tourist taxi operators. This substantial price cut has made the Chevrolet Enjoy a difficult option to ignore for even private MPV buyers. Here are the ex-Delhi prices of all the variants.
