Confirmed: 2019 Honda Civic to be priced between Rs 18-24 lakh in India

Honda is all set to bring back the Civic nameplate in India, a model that was once a popular premium offering in the country. In fact, the Japanese automobile major has sold 25 million units globally in terms of cumulative sales, marking its presence in 170 countries. The Civic brand is Honda's longest running automotive nameplate which makes it an important offering. Honda Cars India has already announced March 7 as the launch date for the 2019 Civic and has also commenced official bookings at Rs 31,000. And now we have learnt that the pricing of the 2019 Honda Civic will be between Rs 18-24 lakh, ex-showroom.

The Honda Civic will rival the likes of Hyundai Elantra (Rs 13.81-20.15 lakh), Skoda Octavia (Rs 16-26 lakh) and the Toyota Corolla Altis (16.45-20.19 lakh) in India. The 2019 Honda Civic will come equipped with a list of features that are already on offer in the international-spec model. This includes Honda's Lane Watch, a system that we have already seen in the flagship Accord Hybrid sedan and the new-gen CR-V SUV. The system uses a camera in the left wing mirror to provide an 80 deg view of the left. Additionally, the India-spec Honda Civic will be offered with multi-view rear camera, dual-zone climate control, dual front airbags along with side and curtain airbags and many more.

In terms of powertrain options, the 1.8L petrol comes with a 1,799cc iVTEC that makes 141PS of power at 6,500rpm and produces 174Nm at 4,300rpm. This is mated to a continuously variable transmission. The ARAI claimed fuel efficiency figure is 16.5kmpl. The diesel engine is the 1,597cc turbocharged engine that was launched in the new CR-V. It makes a similar 120PS at 4,000rpm and 300Nm at 3,000rpm here. The only available transmission with this is a six-speed manual and comes with a fuel economy claim of 26.5kmpl
