Coronavirus impact: Jawa factory produces face shields
Mahindra's Jawa plant in Pithampur has started producing face shields to help battle the COVID-19 pandemic. The company was already making face shields at the Kandivali plant in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and now with the Pithampur plant also joining the effort, the output of face shields have increased.
Prakash Wakankar, Mahindra's executive for international operations for farm equipment and global two-wheeler business tweeted about the new development at the Pithampur plant. The tweet mentioned about the 1,000 plus meal packets sent out from the plant's kitchen to those in need and production of face masks along with appreciating the plant's team for their efforts in helping fight the Coronavirus pandemic.
The shield protects the entire face from accidental contact with liquids and the design has been sourced from Ford Motor Corporation. These shields can be worn over the basic face mask as well.
The initiative will certainly aid the doctors, nurses, health force staff and other volunteers who are helping with providing essential services and kits to the people who are in need of help during the nationwide lockdown.
