Coronavirus impact: Toyota extends its support to health forces and daily wage workers
Toyota has announced its support for the health care staff and doctors along with the public health workforce in the state of Karnataka. The company will provide personal protective equipment kits to the medical staff, doctors, and nurses and along with that, daily food rations and essentials kits will be provided to daily wage workers through Karnataka government's local district administration in Ramanagara near Bangalore.
Hazmat suits will also be distributed in a phased manner, the first phase includes 1,000 sets of suit distribution followed by a distribution of 2,000 sets in phase two. The company will be providing 1,000 essential kits to the daily wage workers who are suffering the sudden nationwide lockdown of 21 days, each kit will consist of 20 food items and other essentials.
The employees of the company have also provided 27 boxes of food kits that support around 30 families. The company will stay in constant touch with the state government and make necessary changes to the existing support plan to meet the requirements and spread the reach of help.
Vikram Gulati, country head and senior vice president at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, "In these challenging times, the central and state governments have put forth exceptional efforts to counter the COVID-19 crisis. At this hour of need, TKM as a committed corporate is joining hands with the Government of Karnataka and persistently working with them to support the healthcare employees and daily wage earners in every possible manner. We truly appreciate the measures taken by the government and encourage everyone to adhere to the guidelines given by them. We will continue to monitor the situation and extend support wherever needed to safeguard the well-being of society."
And for the employees of the company, several preventive measures have been undertaken to safeguard the physical and mental health of the staff and their families by providing them with video consultation. The company also announced a sustenance package for its dealer network that will help them overcome the lockdown phase.
