After unveiling its small hatchback, the GO, Datsun has revealed pictures and details about its GO-based MPV, the GO+. A 5+2 seater MPV, the GO+ comes with a front which resembles its hatchback sibling to a great extent. The side profile shows regular MPV lines which converge into a shapely boot which again looks like a widened section of the GO. Inside and the GO+ even has the same pull-type parking brake lever on the dashboard. There is also a mobile phone holder awkwardly placed near the central AC vent. The front passenger gets an extended bench to his side, which though not advisable (no seat belt) can be used to seat an additional passenger. The middle row passengers may get an AC vent. The third row will seat two passengers and can be folded to allow more cargo space.

The Datsun GO+ will be powered by a 1.2-litre engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Datsun says that they have tuned this engine for good acceleration and fuel efficiency. The dynamics are also claimed to be nimble enough to deal with city traffic. The GO and its MPV sibling will be manufactured at Nissan's Purwakarta plant in Indonesia. Both will retail for less than 100 Million Indonesian rupiah and will be launched in 2014. Expect Datsun to showcase both the cars at the upcoming Auto Expo 2014 in India. Both the cars will be locally manufactured at Nissan's Oragadam plant in Chennai. The GO+ in India will compete against the likes of the upcoming Brio MPV and to some extent the Ertiga though it is likely that it will undercut both in the pricing department.

"With the return of the Datsun brand, we are changing mobility. And we're ensuring greater access to the pride, independence and opportunities that car ownership provides.  It's exciting to know that, for many Indonesians, the first new car they buy will be a Datsun", said Carlos Ghosn, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. President and CEO, unveiling the cars.
