Ducati restarts operations in India with three dealers

20 Mar 2015 / 1

Ducati has officially reopened in India with three dealerships open now in Mumbai, Delhi and Gurgaon. Ducati India Private Limited, headed by MD Ravi Avalur, is the official subsidiary of Ducati Motor. The new dealerships will offer the Ducati Diavel, Hypermotard, Monster and Panigale models. The new Scrambler, which is a spartan on-off road style motorcycle will join the ranks shortly.

Ducati India says these dealerships will incorporate service facilities and Ducati will not only add an outlet in Bangalore but is working hard at expanding the reach and capability of its dealers to cover the main cities in India. Ducati India promises not only an international-class sales experience but is also training mechanics to be able to offer the same level of aftersales care.

Avalur said, “Our intention was to open in India with all official Ducati presence only when we were absolutely ready. I can now confirm that our aftersales service centres will ensure exactly the same high standards achieved across Ducati’s global network.”

As you know, Ducati Motor had earlier entered India via an importer but that arrangement ended when it led to escalating issues on practically every front. We were told that a solution was being found. Ducati India has been working quietly behind the scenes for almost a full year and is making the announcement today that full operations are restarting now.

We expect that an official subsidiary and renewed focus should be just what the premium Italian motorcycle brand needs to reestablish itself in the Indian market. The Scrambler and the Monster 795, we believe, will be the models that drive the volumes for the brand and we will update our product database with the prices as soon as Ducati gives us the official pricing.

New Delhi, India, 20 March 2015 – Ducati has re-entered the market with an official subsidiary, Ducati India Private Limited, which is ready to provide a premium ownership experience to motorcycle enthusiasts in India. Ducati is reinforcing its commitment to the Indian market with the opening of world class dealerships in Mumbai, Delhi and Gurgaon. Infinity has opened a Ducati dealership in Mumbai, whilst AMP has established dealerships in Delhi and Gurgaon; the latter claimed to be Ducati’s largest showroom in their global network.
The initial plan for a network of Ducati dealerships to be established by the end of its first year is now on target with the dealerships in Mumbai, Delhi and Gurgaon being fully operational. These dealerships are the first to house Ducati’s new world-class service facilities. In addition to a new dealership opening in Bangalore shortly, Ducati India is also currently identifying, confirming and training a network of highly qualified and enthusiastic dealers ready to offer the 2015 models in other key cities and is confident that every dealership will transfer its passion and dedication for the brand into great service for its customers. Ducati India is set to execute the same intensive program of training provided globally, replicating the identical high standards of after-sales service that the iconic Italian brand is known for providing around the world. Ducati India Pvt Ltd -Managing Director, Ravi Avalur confirmed: “Our intention was to open in India with an official Ducati presence only when we were absolutely ready. Ducati’s entry is perfectly timed to receive the brand new Ducati Scrambler, an avant-garde model family that will introduce an entirely new motorcycling lifestyle. Ducati’s official presence in India will be further underlined by the availability of the Italian manufacturer’s range of motorcycles, including the Diavel, Hypermotard, Monster and Superbike.
