EICMA 2016: India-bound Triumph Street Scrambler unveiled
Triumph has unveiled the all-new Street Scrambler at the EICMA 2016. It is based on the 2016 Triumph Street Twin which was launched in India this year. The Street Scrambler is powered by the same 900cc parallel-twin engine that also does duty in the Street Twin. This engine makes 55PS of power and 80Nm of torque.
Compared to the Street Twin, the Street Scrambler gets a longer rear suspension, a wider handlebar along with switchable ABS and traction control. Triumph has not yet revealed the suspension travel, weight and seat height of the motorcycle. It gets a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel which are shod with Metzeler Tourance dual-purpose tyres. As the pictures reveal, it also gets a stainless steel exhaust.
The Triumph Street Scrambler also gets ride-by-wire, torque-assist clutch and a USB charging point. Additionally, it gets an aluminium rear rack, steel footpegs, inter-changeable pillion seat, an engine bash-plate and rubber knee pads on the fuel tank. Triumph has said that Street Scrambler buyers will have a choice of over 150 accessories.
The arrival of the new Street Scrambler also means that the old Scrambler based on the 865cc Bonneville is no longer on sale. Also being 'retired' is the Scrambler inspiration kit, a Triumph-curated collection of its own aftermarket accessories that could be used to alter the look and feel of the Street Twin. We expect it to be launched in India sometime early next year.
