BMW Motorrad will bring their Husqvarna brand to India through its current two-dealer, three-outlet setup. BMW Motorrad officials spoke to OVERDRIVE about their Indian plans and explained that BMW Motorrad is relying on two experienced BMW Group partners. With this dealer structure they say they are well prepared to run the operational business as well as develop continuously the market for their products.

BMW sells motorcycles in India through three dealers - in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. For the moment, the company does not plan to expand their network. They say this is because the premium motorcycle market is still quite small and is only beginning to develop. It has been, says BMW Motorrad, a strategic decision to enter the market and now be prepared for the expected future growth. BMW, so far, appears to have no plans to either expand their distribution network in India or indeed, as speculated, setup an Indian assembly plant for Husqvarna to bring in more affordable CKD or SKD products.
