Facelifted Benelli TNT 300 (302S) launched internationally - Could be launched in India early 2020
The Benelli 302S that we Indians know as the TNT 300, gets cosmetic updates. The facelifted street naked motorcycle was launched in the American market for $4,299 - that is Rs 3.07 lakh with today's conversion rates.
The updates include a new headlamp assembly, an all-digital instrument cluster and a new colour scheme with graphics on it.
The halogen headlamp assembly has been replaced by an all-LED unit. An all-digital instrument cluster replaces the semi-digital unit. And the new colour scheme includes red, green, black and white. Also, a new set of graphics is on offer which reads 302 across its fuel tank and panels.
Mechanically, the motorcycle remains unchanged and still sources its power from a 300cc in-line 2-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The US-spec model has a slightly less power output than the India spec model. The power is rated at 37.5PS and 25.6Nm, while the specification for the Indian model stands at 38.7PS and 26.5Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The cycle parts are carried forward as well. Separate function USD (upside down forks) in the front and an adjustable monoshock absorber in the rear are distinct features. The motorcycle still gets a twin radially-mounted disc brake set-up in the front and a single disc brake set-up in the rear - with ABS (antilock braking system) of course.
Benelli is likely to update the India spec TNT 300 with similar changes and a BSVI compliant engine by early 2020 i.e before the stringent BSVI norms kick in (as the current model is BSIV certified). Currently, the Benelli TNT 300 retails at Rs 2.99, ex-showroom Delhi, and rivals the KTM 390 Duke, Honda CB300R, BMW G 310 R and the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. The updates could make the motorcycle dearer by Rs 10,000-12,000.
