Features comparison: Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza vs Ford EcoSport vs Mahindra TUV300
Maruti Suzuki will launch its first compact SUV the Vitara Brezza in India on March 8, 2016. It will rival the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300. We have already compared the specifications of all three rivals on paper. Here's a look at how they stack up on the features front.
We were the first to reveal that the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will be available in six trims â" Ldi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi and ZDi+. Â Maruti will offer a driver airbag as standard equipment on all trims. Additionally, a passenger airbag along with ABS and EBD will be offered as an option even on the base trim. The Vitara Brezza is also the first car in India to be homologated for offset and side impact compliance.
Unlike the Ford EcoSport, the Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Mahindra TUV300 are available only with a diesel engine. The Ford EcoSport diesel is available in five trims â" Ambiente, Trend, Trend+, Titanium, and Titanium+. The Mahindra TUV300 is also available in five trims â"T4, T4+, T6, T6+ and T8. It is the only one in this bunch that is available with an AMT in two trims- T6+AMT and T8+AMT.
There are a few similarities between the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza LDi trim and the Ford EcoSport Ambiente trim. Both compact SUVs get front power windows, manual AC, a day/night inside rear view mirror, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, a Bluetooth compatible audio system and 15-inch steel wheels. In comparison, the Mahindra TUV300 T4 gets only manual AC and 15-inch steel wheels.
Unlike the base Vitara Brezza LDi and the TUV300 T4 which get a tilt adjustable steering wheel, the EcoSport Ambiente offers telescopic adjustment as well. In terms of unique features, the Vitara Brezza LDi gets a driver airbag while the EcoSport Ambiente gets follow-me-home headlamps and central locking. The Mahindra TUV300 T4 trim is the only one in this trio that gets front and rear power windows.
The top trims of all three rivals come equipped with keyless entry, steering mounted audio controls, rear windscreen washer and wiper and height adjustable driver's seat. However, the Maruti Vitara Brezza ZDi+ and the Ford EcoSport Titanium+ are similarly kitted. Both get 16-inch alloys, automatic AC, cooled glovebox, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers and a push button start/stop.
In terms of unique features, only the top Vitara Brezza ZDi+ gets cruise control and a reverse parking camera. In comparison, the EcoSport Titanium+ and the TUV300 T8 come equipped with follow-me-home headlamps and rear parking sensors. The top TUV300 trim offers static bending headlamps as well. Only the top EcoSport gets leather wrapped seats, steering wheel and handbrake lever.
The Vitara Brezza ZDi+ gets Smartplay infotainment system with CarPlay and navigation with Mapcare which updates map data with every service. In comparison, the EcoSport Titanium+ gets Ford's Sync AppLink with voice control feature while the top TUV300 T8 trim gets Blue sense mobile app. Only the TUV300 T8 offers Mahindra's micro-hybrid technology and arm rests for the driver and front passenger.
On the safety front, the Vitara Brezza ZDi+ and the TUV300 T8 get dual front airbags along with ABS and EBD. The top EcoSport Titanium+ gets curtain airbags as well and Ford's Emergency Assist feature which uses the Bluetooth paired phone to call emergency responders in the event of an accident.
While comparing the features on the base and top trims, it becomes clear that the Maruti Vitara Brezza has the Ford EcoSport in its sight. Both compact SUVs are quite closely stacked in terms of standard equipment. However, the Mahindra TV300 clearly doesn't get an exhaustive amount of kit as the other two.
