Honda Amaze 1.2 VX MT long term review: Fleet introduction at 3,200km

The Amaze joined the OVERDRIVE long term fleet just a couple of months back and for the duration that it is with me, it is pretty much a part of my family and hence it deserved a proper welcome, just like my personal cars and two-wheelers! I'm also glad Honda gave us the petrol version as the Japanese car maker is known better for its silky smooth petrol engines. In fact the 1.2-litre motor – now a tried and tested one – that's under the hood of the Amaze is so smooth and silent, at idle it's hard to tell whether the engine is running or not!

The Honda petrol is one of the newest cars to join OVERDRIVE's long term test car fleet and deserved a proper welcome

I'm already liking the motor's sprightliness and how quick it is to rev. The five-speed gearbox is slick, but I'm already finding the ratios a little tall, especially for city use. Our test car is the top of the line VX version, equipped with a 6.9 inch touchscreen and a reverse camera and rear parking sensors. This adds to convenience in the form of Apple CarPlay connectivity on the go as also convenience while parking. I'm hoping to put the car through the rigours of city driving and highway runs alike in the coming months, as my last few long term test cars were all diesels and it has been really long since I lived with a petrol engined car!
