Fiat has revealed a new hatchback specifically for the Chinese markets, the new Ottimo. The car is a hacked version of the Fiat Viaggio sedan. The Viaggio is the Dodge Dart in North America.

On the outside, the Ottimo gets a Fiat badge in the centre of the grille and multi-spoke alloys. The grille itself is thin and sleek rather than imposing. The front and rear bumpers and the light assemblies get slight redesigns. On the inside, the car has a minimalist console, a touchscreen up top, engine start/stop button, Fiat-derived steering with mounted controls and two-tone upholstery in light and dark grey.

The Viaggio, from which the Ottimo is derived, was first produced back in 2012. It was a result of the collaboration between Fiat Group and its Chinese partner Guangzhou Auto (GAC). This sedan was based on the Dodge Dart with mild cosmetic changes to the front and rear ends and the interiors.

As far as the powertrains go, Fiat has spoken nothing about the heart of the Ottimo. But one could expect it to retain the engine from its elongated sibling. The Viaggio has an option of two turbocharged petrol engines, a 1.4-litre T-Jet producing 120PS or the same engine tuned to deliver an uprated 150PS. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual or the Dual Dry Clutch Transmission (DDTC).
