Geneva 2014: Jaguar XE with new cutting-edge Ingenium engines announced
Jaguar XE is the name of the new small sports sedan from the British manufacturer. Jaguar confirmed at the Geneva Auto Show 2014 that its first all aluminium monocoque sedan will be the most refined, advanced and efficient car in its class.
The XE will also be the first production Jaguar car to be made entirely from a new aluminium architecture, the likes of which was previewed with the C-X17 SUV. The Jaguar XE will be powered by an all-new Ingenium family of 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol and diesel engines. Jaguar says that these engines are capable of a top speed of 300kmph. At the same time, emissions will be as less as 100g/km.

The Ingenium series of engines are adaptable for transverse and in-line installation for all-wheel and rear-wheel drive cars from the Jaguar family. The global unveil of the new XE will happen later towards this year with production cars being rolled mid-2015.

Speaking at the Geneva Auto Show, Ralf Speth, chief executive officer, Jaguar Land Rover, confirmed: "We announced just a few weeks ago that our new Engine Manufacturing Centre would produce a new family of premium, lightweight, low-friction, low emission four-cylinder petrol and diesel units. The first of our Ingenium engine range will be used in our all-new mid-sized Jaguar sports sedan. That car will be called the Jaguar XE, and it will be unveiled in production form later this year."
The Jaguar XE will compete with the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4.
