GM rolls out its 100,000th engine from Talegaon
General Motors India has rolled out its 100,000th engine from their Talegaon facility. This milestone has been achieved by this powertrain facility just two years after it was started. It is also the company's first flexible powerplant factory in the world which makes both petrol and diesel engines at the same time. The annual production capacity of this plant is 160,000 engines, which can be expanded to another 140,000 once the Sail sedan and Enjoy MPV are launched in 2013. GM India currently manufactures the TCDi engines of the Beat and Sail U-VA here as also the petrol engines of the Beat, Spark and Sail here.
Commenting on this, Lowell Paddock, president & managing director, General Motors India said, "This is a proud moment for us all of us at GM India. Crossing the milestone of producing 100,000 engines at the powertrain plant is a testament of our commitment to the Indian market. With the launch of the Chevrolet Sail U-VA and the forthcoming launches of Chevrolet Sail and Chevrolet Enjoy, we will be stepping up the production at the plant. We look forward to achieving more milestones as we go ahead and offer best-in-segment cars in the Indian automobile market."
