Harley-Davidson India starts assembly of three more models

Close on the heels of the announcement of the Budget 2013 and increase in duties for imported motorcycles, Harley-Davidson has started assembling three more models in India. Earlier brought in as CBUs, the Fat Boy, Fat Boy Special and Heritage Softail Classic will now be assembled at the company's facility in Bawal, Haryana. As of now, Harley-Davidson India CKDs nine out of the eleven models that it offers here.

The CKD Fat-Boy is now priced at Rs 14.9 lakh, a drop in price by approximately Rs 5 lakh. The Fat Boy Special is being offered for Rs 16.25 lakh as against the earlier Rs 19.70 lakh. The Heritage Softail Classic now retails at Rs 16.25 lakh, down from the pre-CKD price of Rs 20.45 lakh. Other CKD models are from the Sportster model family (SuperLow, Iron 883, Forty-Eight) and Dyna model family (Street Bob, Super Glide Custom, and Fat Bob). Harley-Davidson's motorcycle price range in India starts at 5.6 lakhs for the Harley-Davidson SuperLow. All the prices are ex-Delhi.
