Hero MotoCorp advances into Peru market

Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (HMCL) has launched its range of two-wheelers in Peru, marking the brand's foray into the Latin American market.

Hero MotoCorp also announced a partnership with 'MOTOCORP S.A.C', a part of the EFE Group of Peru, to bring its two-wheelers to this market. Under the alliance, MOTOCORP S.A.C has been appointed as the sole distributor of Hero range of two-wheelers in Peru, which will be made available to customers through a network of 85 outlets spread across the country, with more new outlets to be added subsequently in a phased manner.

"Hero MotoCorp has recently clocked the landmark milestone of 50 million units in cumulative sales and our new international markets will play a crucial role in the future as we move forward with the objective of surpassing 100 million units in cumulative sales by 2020. Peru, therefore, plays a significant role in our plans to expand our global footprint," said Pawan Munjal, MD & CEO, Hero MotoCorp Ltd.

Mr. Munjal launched the 100cc scooter Pleasure and the 223cc Karizma ZMR in the presence of Mr. Jamie Prieto, President of MOTOCORP S.A.C, former Miss World and TV host Ms. Maria Julia Mantilla and world champion surfer Mr. Javier Swayne.

The range of Hero two-wheelers which are now available in Peru include successful brands across segments â€" the scooter Pleasure (100cc), Passion Pro (100cc), Glamour (125cc), Hunk (150cc), Thriller (150cc), Karizma ZMR (223cc) and Karizma R (223cc).

Hero has moved quickly to expand into markets outside India. They recently announced their South African operations. Hero also sells its vehicles in Central America.
