Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has announced its business plans for the financial year 2015-2016. Abbreviated as REC (Retain Expand Create), the three words summarise the intent of the company.
The company plans to ‘retain’ its number one position in the automatic scooter segment with the Activa and the 125cc segment with the CB Shine. It also aims to keep the number one spot in the top 35 towns in India.
With regards to expanding its presence in India, HMSI plans to open its fourth manufacturing facility by January 2016. It also plans to increase its number of sales and service touch points to 800. In addition, there will be an increased rural customer support with 20 mobile service vans.
The HMSI‚Äôs new products set to be showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo cover the ‘create’ part of the plan. The company adds that it will spawn a completely new segment in India. It also plans to create a flexible capacity of 8 lakh units. With the imminent launch of the CBR 650F, Honda will also set up a premium distribution chain in 20 cities.

|Mumbai, May 6, 2015: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) ‚Äď the ONLY Honda in Indian two-wheeler industry today gave a glimpse of its future readiness and previewed what customers can expect from Honda in the financial year 2015-16.
Honda is operating at peak capacity levels at all its 3 existing plants. The start of operations at the new 4th plant ‚Äď World‚Äôs biggest scooter plant will give new production bandwidth to Honda by January 2016 leading to total sales of 47 lac two-wheelers in FY‚Äô15-16.
At the cusp of its biggest transformation yet, Honda has announced its ‚ÄúRETAIN.EXPAND.CREATE‚ÄĚ strategy which will make Honda future ready to grasp the opportunity of selling to 64 lac customers by 2016.

Adding to the market and product plans, Mr. Yadvinder S Guleria, Senior Vice President ‚Äď Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt, Ltd. said, ‚ÄúIn FY‚Äô14-15, we have grown more than double of industry and sold 44.5 lac two-wheelers last year, which is also our best-ever performance in India. In fact, Honda alone contributed 60% to the 11.8 lac volume increase by industry. We have carried the same momentum into FY‚Äô15-16 by becoming the highest market share and volume gainer in April. The product roadmap for 2015 is robust with nine new products remaining to be launched in this year. For our flagship model CBR 650F, Honda is innovating by bringing a new premium distribution format in 20 top priority cities. Clearly, 2015 will be a game changer year and Honda is all set to take the next leap.‚ÄĚ
