Hyundai developing smartphone-based owner's manual for its cars
Hyundai's latest innovation aims at making the owner's manual a thing of the past with an application based on augmented reality. The application is designed to allow users to get all the information on any part of the car by simply pointing their phones at it.
The app will also include video tutorials on various features of the car and help owners carry out simple maintenance procedures such as engine oil, brake fluid and air filter checks. The software would also serve as a virtual manual for functions like Bluetooth phone pairing, cruise control and warning indicators.

The driver can select the front, rear, interior or the engine bay of the car and then point at it with his smartphone, following which labels would pop up on screen giving all the information around the concerned part. To access more information, one has to click on the labels. Hyundai's app uses two- and three-dimensional tracking technology to identify the various parts.
Hyundai will release this app for both android and iOS platforms. The first car to get this will be the 2016 Hyundai Sonata. Other cars in the range will follow suit.
