Jeep is coming to India quite soon and we've just got our hands on the five-door diesel Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (click here to read our full review). This Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is powered by a 2.8-litre turbo-charged diesel engine producing 200PS and 460Nm, mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. We managed to go from 0-100kmph in 10.2 seconds which is actually quite impressive for such a large vehicle. The Wrangler Unlimited is essentially a five-door version of the smaller three-door Jeep Wrangler Sport which we tested back in 2013.

The exterior is quintessentially Wrangler with a very functional and minimalistic design, which although a little old now, is still appealing. The same idea is carried forward to the interior which features a very simple and straightforward layout along with a touchscreen Garmin infotainment system linked to a really nice all-weather Alpine speaker system.

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is quite capable off the road thanks to its torquey engine and solid axles

The current generation Jeep Wrangler has been around for a while now, and although the age is showing, it's appealing nonetheless

Only when you look at the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited from the side can you tell how large it really is

The rear is typical Wrangler with the square lights and the boxy hardtop

The chunky 17-inch five-spoke wheels are shod in 245/75 section Goodyear Wrangler tyres. The downside to these AT tyres is that there's quite a bit of road noise at higher speeds

The Trail Rated badge indicates that the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has passed all the tests at the Rubicon Trail in Sierra Nevada in the United States

The 2.8-litre turbo-diesel will be the initial offering in India from Jeep. According to company, the 3.5-litre petrol V6 will also be available eventually

The interior is very functional and has no frills. The plastic quality isn't the best in the market, but that'll sell very well with the offroading community considering how messy the interior tends to get

Although it's a nice feature that you can remove just the front half of the roof, it takes anywhere near five and ten minutes to do so

The rear seats are positioned a little too upright, while knee room isn't too great either
