We recently drove the all-new, second generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in India. The new Ertiga is based on Suzuki's Heartect platform that also underpins cars like the Dzire and Swift. It is wider, taller and longer than the previous car and also gets a new 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. While you can read a detailed review of the all-new Ertiga here, the image gallery gives you a peek into what exactly is new.

At first glance, the new Ertiga looks stylish. Elements such as the chrome studded grille and projector headlamps contribute to that effect

There's a prominent crease line that stretches from the front fender to the tail lamps that adds a bit of flair to the design. Blacked out D-pillar gives it the floating roof effect. Large doors mean large windows and that makes the cabin feel airy

Large, wrapround LED tail lamps are neatly integrated

Projector style headlamps have regular halogen bulbs. An LED type projector would've been better, considering the top spec Dzire gets one

Multi-spoke, 15-inch alloys do not fill the big wheel arches. 16-inch wheels probably would've been better

The new Ertiga has two engine options. A 1.3-litre diesel (90PS/200Nm) and a new 1.5-litre petrol engine (105PS/138Nm). Both motors feature mild-hybrid technology.

The dashboard's design looks modern. Chunky, satin finish faux wood inserts in the dashboard, steering wheel and door panels add to the premium feel

Chilled cup holders in the center console is a thoughtful feature

Central armrest is tiny, enough to store loose change, toll receipts or cards

Auto climate control buttons are neatly integrated with the rest of the dashboard

Touchscreen infotainment system is available in the top models only. It is similar to what we've seen in other Marutis

Second row A/c vents are quite effective

Petrol powered Ertiga gets an instrument cluster with a colour TFT display between the speedo and tachometer dials

Hopping onto the Heartect platform has liberated additional room inside the cabin. The second row is spacious enough for three abreast

Third row is best suited for kids or teenagers only. Adults with height over 5ft10inches will find the headroom inadequate

Second row of seats have ISOFIX seats as standard

12-V socket for the second row occupants is located in between the front passenger seats with a nifty holder for your smartphone
