Intermot 2016: BMW reveals R nineT Racer and R nineT Pure

Team OD Updated: October 04, 2016, 03:40 PM IST

In 2013, BMW launched the retro-styled R nineT and it was well-received. Last year, the company showed off the first 'custom' version of this bike in the form of the R nineT Scrambler. Now, BMW has taken the wraps of two more iterations of the R nineT at Intermot.

Both motorcycles use the same chassis that offers a removable rear subframe to aid customisation. Front suspension is taken care off by upside-down forks while BMW's Paralever handles rear suspension. Tyres span 120/70 ZR 17 and 180/55 ZR 17 at the front and rear respectively, and spoke wheels are an option. Braking is handled by dual 4-piston callipers up front biting on twin 320mm discs. Power comes from the same air-/oil-cooled boxer engine that displaces 1,170cc and puts out 110PS. The engines are now Euro-IV compliant.

The first is a naked bike called the R nineT Pure. This motorcycle is supposedly stripped down to the bare basics to 'embody the essence of the purist, classic roadster'. It features premium touches like footrests and fork bridges in forged aluminium.

The R nineT Racer is a handsome motorcycle that aims to recreate the feeling of 1970s sports bikes. It offers a half fairing, hump rear seat, clip-on style handlebars and rear set footpegs.
