Jaguar Land Rover looking to set up a manufacturing plant in Slovakia
Jaguar Land Rover have signed a letter of intent with the government of Slovak Republic for a potential new plant in the city of Nitra in western Slovakia. JLR worldwide currently has six manufacturing facilities, five in England and one in China. The company has already commenced work on a new plant in Brazil and the one in Slovakia should be ready by 2018 at the latest, according to plans. The company officials are studying the feasibility of this location and will submit their report towards the end of this year.
Owned by Tata Motors, Jaguar Land Rover is looking at setting up the Slovakian plant with an annual capacity of 3,000,00 vehicles subject to approval. This plant will be using aluminium as its core component for manufacturing cars. Expect the new Range Rover and XE to be the cars to be rolled out from this plant.

As well as creating additional capacity, it allows us to invest in the development of more new vehicles and technologies, which supports jobs in the UK. With its established premium automotive industry, Slovakia is an attractive potential development opportunity for us. The new factory will complement our existing facilities in the UK, China, India and the one under construction in Brazil."
